"This Speech Is Shocking"
by BroMac in*** w06 7/15 p. 22 focus on the goodness of jehovahs organization ***.
this speech is shocking.
13 whereas some in the first century murmured against appointed servants, others were murmurers against jesus teachings.

How positively Orwellian to use the nom de plume of "Emanual" for someone who has dissented with the party line.

I read the same thing about how Russell intended MacMillan to be his successor. But the problem was that Russell never made any such decision in the only legally binding document - his will. I think it's important to understand that Russell never expected to die without seeing Armageddon, and should he have passed, had made only temporary provisions in order to continue publishing his books while keeping the movement alive in the short amount of time left. Russell expected the end soon, and whoever took over in the interim was of little importance. What he did was put most of the decision making power into the hands of the Editorial Committee. Rutherford, being an experienced attorney, found a way to get the existing members dismissed and manuevered the vote to appoint himself and his loyalists as replacements. If Russell had indeed intended for MacMillan to take the ropes, the choice in itself was undoubtedly meant to appoint a caretaker president who would not make any rash or emotional decisions while keeping the movement running as it had before. MacMillan was a yes man. Had Russell have known that as of 2012 the world was still ticking along, he might have made more concrete efforts in his will.

Single mothers are bad mothers.
by Chemical Emotions ini recently read an article in my local newspaper which essentially stated that single mothers were generally bad mothers and that they needed a man in the relationship.
not significant other, just a man.
i guess there are nosingle mothers who are lesbians!

Well if single mothers are bad mothers, then I am a bad father by extension because I created two of them.

The gal I'm dating frequents match.com - advice?
by UnConfused ini am dating a gal that i met on match.com - we saw each other first last summer, but she didn't think we were a 'match'.
after the "pressure" was off we started hanging out quite a bit with all the benefits that go along with it.
this went on for months.. i became smitten with her, but we weren't a couple, which she pointed out a couple of times.

You didn't say anything about her asking to have a child with you. That changes things a bit. From your original posting, you sounded like you were only casually dating. If I were you I'd take a mental break from all of this. If you really do love her, give it some more time and see if things do progress. Perhaps she learned to love you over time? See what happens. This is the 21st century. If a woman is into you, you'll know it. It's unmistakable. Good luck with that.

I wouldn't be surprised. You guys met on a dating site, and she almost immediately shot you down saying that you weren't a match. That says that she didn't feel a romantic spark or that you made some sort of bad first impression. She takes it further to remind you that you two aren't a couple. And eventually she says she wants to be a couple after all this time of rejecting you flat out. All the while she is still active on match.com throughout this entire period - dating and not dating. Here's my honest opinion, since you asked:
She settled for you. She didn't find what she was looking for with you or anyone else on match, and finally got tired of being alone. There is still hope that she does find someone on match, hence the reason why she's still active. She chose you because you were the nicest (so far) of the bunch. Get your profile back up and find someone who actually wants to be with you and only you.

Did you Observe Medical Emergencies Occur While Meetings Continued On?
by flipper ini've thought a lot about this over the years .
bonafide's thread reminded me of this and how unethical and insensitive it was for jehovah's witnesses meetings to go on without stopping while some rank and file members were having medical emergencies right in the kingdom hall.
my experience i will never forget.. in 1983 i was among some pioneers who were giving experiences at a circuit assembly in front of a crowd of about 2,000. this 83 year old sister was standing at the microphone and when she got done with her part - she sat next to me in her chair on the stage.

I don't know about any of you, but had I been the groom at the wedding, it could have been me carrying the guy off the stage and to a place where he could lay down and be looked at, while screaming for someone to call 911. I would have insisted on following him to the hospital and comforting his family. I wouldn't want my wedding to go on like that. Horrible way to start a marriage. The man who was honoring you and your marriage by performing the ceremony is in risk of losing his life.

I've met him once, and I don't think he had a horrible personality. Maybe you're just equating his rigid belief structure with what you think the man was like in real life. Even though he was the VP and President towards the end of his life, he had none of the pomposity of Rutherford or the self-importance of Knorr. He was eccentric to be sure, and socially awkward, but approachable and conversational if you met him.
